We lost another amazing member of the Nordstrom Clan in February of this year - Sandy and Gail's grandson Justin - only twenty three years old, he was taken from us much too soon and the pain is great. Justin was DH's godson, and Justin adored David. As we said our final goodbyes at the funeral home before the Mass, just before we closed the casket, I placed a DH pin on his collar...I felt David's presence once again, and I knew he had Justin by his side, safe and secure. There's a photo atop my television of DH, Jim Foley and RV. It was taken back in 1995 at the old Key Largo Hotel in Galveston. Carolyn Foley took the picture. We were all honored to have Dewitt as our bartender that day. This is my favorite photograph. It travels with me wherever I go and it is always proudly displayed in my home. A day doesn't go by where I don't look at DH and his memory conjures up the best of times. I miss him terribly as he was probably my best friend. Looking at that photo is my favorite DH sighting. I'm lucky I get to see him every day. Ron Vuy Palm Beach County Florida

The Flatlanders with Joe Ely played at the Crighton Theater in Conroe on Saturday night as part of the concert series we have season tickets for. As a regular feature you can fill out a survey for the series and they have a drawing of the people who submitted surveys with the winner getting to go backstage with the band after the show. They picked my name. Do you think DH was in the house?
The first picture is the South Austin Jug Band
which was the opening act. [Photos are here]
I re-introduced myself to Joe and recalled his recent show at the Continental Club that Byron, Dart and I went to. I made the DH connection and says he still thinks of him whenever he comes to Houston. I also spoke with Robbie his lead guitarist and reminded him of the night they played at the Satellite when he had the black duct tape on his guitar and he kicked the plug out of the amp.
Kris, Mike, Sandy and Gail were also at the show.

4 October 02, Just before midnight,up on Shepherd Hill
We were at the Crighton theater.Mack and Dart and some of the boys were there too. Talkin' about DH after the show. Crighton staff had just given us photos of Nick and Joe Ely taken backstage last year. Lots of DH energy. Then, driving home - I was on Shepherd Hill, had passed Squeaky's, driving along that dark, winding stretch of road, no streelights, just my headlights. Almost to the cemetary - I always slow down there - looked to the left (cemetary side of the road)...... NOTE: Nobody EVER walks along S.H., especially at night; too dark, you can't see where you're going. But suddenly, There He Was - short guy, hairy legs, had his back to me, walking along at a brisk pace, long tan shorts, T-shirt, ball cap .....stopped in my tracks immediately ----- the walker never passed me...he just disappeared .....right at the gate to the cemetary. Only thing strange was the pace - he was walking so fast --- almost as if he'd been at the Crighton with us, now had to get home to his place on Boot Hill before anybody knew he was gone............

He's in Lakeway mowing lawns!

The morning after the Wake, we went to fix Mimosa's, as we always do on Sunday morning. Two Waterford Crystal champagne glasses, (which I had personally washed and dried myself the week before), were chipped - we NEVER let him use the good glasses, because he always broke them ---- the chips were in the glasses for "Love" and "Prosperity".........
Doctor O'Brien was in a really bad accident in Las Vegas (he was a passenger). The accident was eerily similar to DH's. Doc was lucky to survive. While Doc was on the side of the road with the cops, a guy got out of one of the cars stuck in the traffic. Long shorts, T-Shirt, dark glasses, the whole DH persona. Then, he started talking to the cops - Doc said it was his voice and personality. Before he left, he looked straight at Doc, smiled, and sort of dipped his head, like "I'm still here, watchin' after you " (quote from Doc) --- he's sure it was a message and a clear sighting!
Walking away from the graveside service(long before it was over), hands in his pockets, walkin' the DH walk, dark glasses, like "ok, this is ok....I'm goin' now" ........ am 100% sure........
